Tell us about how this project came about, when and why did you come up with the idea?
The Procella Audio showroom idea started just before the last ISE in Amsterdam. After the show we either had to re-build or throw away the demo room. The room acoustics was designed by ADL (Audio Data Lab) from Sweden. Procella Audio always wanted a showroom, demo room and training/testing space which was available throughout the year so here was the perfect opportunity. Gerard Brouwer lives in Harderwijk, Netherlands and found a space in Harderwijk which was a new build and completely empty so perfect. After the ISE the room was shipped over there and during COVID we started re-building that room but this time as a permanent build so everything reinforced.
What was the original plan? Did this develop or change over the course of the project?
There was no real plan, only then the demo room at first, which had a 15.3.10 layout. From there we have taken it step by step slowly. a kitchen, storage area etc. were created and we have used the demo room of course many times. There was still a 50m2 space on the 1st floor. That became a small media room copy of our first new idea for the ISE in Barcelona, a simple 5.2.2 layout now with our own AVR-1680 and a conference/training room.
Take us on a journey through each part of the space, what performance characteristics or functionality are offered by each part of the project, what products were chosen? and why?
Trinnov introduced WaveForming and since our demo room has a Trinnov Altitude32-32 and our relationship it made sense to upgrade our demo room. Besides tradional behind screen loudspeakers we have a long proven track record in commercial cinemas with Full-range Above Screen loudspeakers (AS2). We didn’t want to swap our normal subwoofer setup for WaveForming simply because not every project will have WaveForming, the solution needs a specific number of subwoofers and positioning these subwoofers all depending on the room design and of course a professional to calibrate this as well. So we wanted following:
Luckily our room height is 380cm so we could make 3 towers of loudspeakers/subwoofers and rebuild a extremely reinforced baffle wall.
We now have 4 presets in the Trinnov to switch between these layouts.

What technical challenges did the project present in terms of installation and performance?
We had build this room a couple of times and know how it performs so no real challenges. We wanted the ‘design’ no to be a designed EndUser cinema so we have choosen to show all acoustics materials and loudspeakers. Why, we train our dealers here and sometimes they come with their clients, in this way we have a functional and neutral design so show why acoustic elements are needed and where the loudspeakers are placed for the best result. Once that is done, the EnUser can hide it behind acoustic transparent materials.

The room is designed by Audio Data Lab from Sweden and our partners helped with setting up. Barco Residential with the calibration and presets, Trinnov for the WaveForming and we have our input regarding our loudspeaker performance and capabilities.

Now it is finished, what is your favourite part?
A demonstration becomes an experience, it all comes together, room design, acoustic design, seat to seat concistancy, superb picture quality for whatever demo material you choose.
